Create a reverse shipment
Use this page to create a reverse shipment, a shipment delivered from a customer back to a merchant.
You can create a reverse shipment manually, from an existing forward shipment, or automatically when a return request is approved.
The key difference from a forward shipment is the address direction: Ship From is the customer's address and Ship To is the store or warehouse. Forward shipments go store → customer; reverse shipments go customer → store.
Reverse shipments support the same operations as forward shipments, with slight variations in the status flow.
Create a reverse shipment
1. Navigate to Shipping > Shipments on the Carriyo Dashboard. Set shipment type to Reverse from the dropdown at the top of the table, then click the add icon. To create a pre-booked reverse shipment, see Create a pre-booked shipment.
2. The Ship From address is the customer's address. The Ship To address is the store or warehouse. For full creation steps, see Create a shipment. Once booked, the reverse shipment appears on the shipments page.
You can configure shipping rules for reverse shipments. See Create a shipping rule.
3. To create a reverse shipment from an existing forward shipment, use the Create reverse shipment option from the Shipment actions menu.
Carriyo also creates reverse shipments automatically when a return request is approved, based on the return reason.
For the full return-request workflow (approvals, receipt, completion), see Returns.
