Resolve shipment errors
Use this page to diagnose and fix errors on a Shipment that failed to book.
When a shipment encounters any error, its status changes to error. The error status sits between draft and booked. Labels and airway bills are not generated while a shipment is in error. The shipment must be successfully booked before its documents become available.
Errors fall into two categories: Carriyo validation errors and carrier errors. Carrier timeout errors are another common issue.
The Shipment Problems section in the Summary tab lists all errors and warnings. If the error comes from the carrier, the message includes the carrier's name. Carriyo errors appear as a data error.
Understanding errors
The History tab shows a compact view of error details, with the source of each error noted. Carriyo warnings can be ignored.
- Carriyo validation errors are usually self-explanatory. Common causes include an incorrect city name, an invalid country code, an invalid contact number or email for pickup or dropoff details, or no carrier assigned to the shipment.
- Carrier errors arise from carrier-side validation failures: such as an invalid shipper number or invalid dropoff city, or from timeout errors. A timeout error means the carrier API did not respond in time, so the shipment was not booked.
Resolving errors
- To resolve a Carriyo validation error, Edit the shipment details and re-book.
- To resolve a carrier validation or timeout error, contact the carrier team.
