Receive, cancel, or complete a return

Use this page to receive, complete, or cancel a return request after it has been approved. You can set up triggers to notify customers of each of these status updates, except for 'received'.

You can also cancel a return request before it is approved. See Return status codes to understand return statuses in detail.

How to receive, complete and cancel return requests

1. Navigate to the Returns listing page on the Carriyo Dashboard. Use the search function or filters to find the return request you want to update.

Receiving a return request

Receiving a return request means the items have been received from the customer. Move a return request to this state when the reverse shipment is at 'Delivered' and items are in the warehouse but the full process is not yet complete. The returned quantity updates automatically when the reverse shipment reaches 'Delivered'.

This action will only change the received quantity and won't affect the status.

Completing a return request

This step, also known as 'receive and complete', finalizes the process, including any refunds or payments due. Complete the return only after the reverse shipment is delivered and you have received the items at the warehouse. This action updates the received quantity and moves the status to 'Completed'. Once completed, you cannot move the request to 'Cancelled'.

The receive option is only visible if the return request has not already been received.

Record refund details in the Refunds tab on the return request detail page. Click + Add refund to enter the details, then click Save.

Canceling a return request

You can cancel a return request before or after approval. 'Cancelled' is a final status and cannot be changed.
