Status Tracking

Once a shipment is booked, Carriyo tracks the status of the shipment from the time it's picked up to the time it's closed (delivered or returned).

Carriyo uses two methods to track the status of a shipment, and it uses the best method available to always get the latest status from the carrier.

  1. REAL-TIME UPDATES : The preferred way to track shipment status is through real-time updates from the carrier. In this method, the carrier sends updates to Carriyo in real-time as the shipment moves through the delivery process. For example, as soon as the carrier picks up the shipment, they send an update to Carriyo, and Carriyo records the shipment as "In Transit." As the shipment progresses to the end-customer, the carrier continues to send updates all the way through to delivery.
  2. SCHEDULED UPDATES : The other way to track shipment status is for Carriyo to periodically check the status of the shipment with the carrier. In this method, instead of the carrier sending updates to Carriyo, Carriyo checks the status of the shipment with the carrier at scheduled intervals.

Carriers that support real-time updates

Many of the carriers integrated with Carriyo support real-time status updates.

For these carriers, Carriyo uses both real-time updates and periodic checks to ensure the latest shipment status is always reflected in Carriyo.

Carriers that DO NOT support real-time updates

A small number of carriers do not have the capability to send real-time updates. For these carriers, Carriyo relies on scheduled status checks which can result in a delay in showing the latest status in Carriyo.

This is not our preferred approach, but it is limited by the capabilities of the carrier systems.

For carriers that support only the scheduled update model, Carriyo will continuously check for status updates at periodic intervals. Carriyo will track your shipments for up to 60 days from booking. The table below shows the refresh frequency for these carriers.

Shipment Age Status Refresh Schedule
First 7 days from booking hourly - All open shipments will be tracked
8 to 14 days from booking daily - All open shipments will be tracked
15 to 60 days from booking daily - Only collected shipments will be tracked (after 14 days)
PLEASE NOTE:

Shipments that are not collected within the first 14 days, will not be tracked automatically, if the carrier does not support real-time updates.
